Back to those Facebook wedding groups, again!
Negativity aside, there have been some GREAT ideas and DIY projects to come from the groups I was a member of. Though I left the groups, I’m still a big fan of localized wedding pages and groups for one specific reason. Groups local to either where you live or where the wedding is being hosted (if they are not the same), are the perfect place to find a Bride Buddy!
I LOVE introducing my clients to each other (with permission, of course), in hopes that they become Bride Buddies.
A Bride Buddy might be someone that:
- Has a similar theme or color palette: share the cost of décor if your dates are different, or purchase from the first bride/wedding at a fraction of the cost of buying new
- Is looking for similar vendors: share referrals, reviews, or tour venues together
- Is similar in clothing size: a great way to purchase gently loved dresses for your wedding, rehearsal, bridal shower, etc.
- Is crafty: get together and help each other with DIY wedding projects
- Understands the stress of wedding planning: meet up for coffee or happy hour to trade ideas (or to vent). Maybe you can function as each other’s day-of-coordinator?!
- Is a bargain shopper: keep each other in-the-know with great local sales, budget friendly vendor finds, etc.
Along similar lines; if you don’t have a huge friend or family support system, check out “Sisterhood of the Traveling Wedding” groups. These groups have been a great source of friendly folks that are eager to help on your wedding day or attend as a guest if you need a little extra love on your big day!
