Workshop #25: Stocking Your Wedding Day 911 Kit

Nov. 04, 2024

Yes, I know I look like a well-dressed construction worker when I arrive on wedding day to begin set up. My all-black ensemble includes a “tool belt” that looks more like a very fancy server apron with 47 pockets, and a “tool box” containing the most random collection of items one would think to tote around. Make fun of me all you want… I say, “I have it in my emergency kit!” at least 2 dozen times each wedding day.

Short and sweet today. Here’s a comprehensive list of everything I keep in my trusty, gigantic, “Caboodles” style box (yep, I’m aware I probably just aged myself a bit):

  1. Portable Steamer
  2. Scissors & Wire Cutters
  3. Lint Roller
  4. Tape (clear Scotch tape, green floral tape & something heavy duty)
  5. Nail File & Trimmer
  6. Bobby Pins & Clear Hair Elastics
  7. Plastic Gloves (for food handling)
  8. White Cloth Gloves (I wear these when helping a bride into her dress in case I there is nowhere to wash my hands, first)
  9. Crochet Hook (for dresses that button up the back)
  10. Needle and Thread (I keep ivory, white, black, gray and navy thread on hand, then purchase the color of bridesmaid’s dresses, per wedding)
  11. Hot Glue Gun & Super Glue
  12. Clear Fishing Line, String & Zip Ties
  13. Floss Picks
  14. Breath Mints
  15. Ibuprofen
  16. Nail Polish Remover
  17. Eyelash Glue
  18. Hair Spray
  19. Dryer Sheets (get rid of that static cling!)
  20. Charging Block and Cord
  21. Pens and a Black Sharpie
  22. Q-Tips & Cotton Balls
  23. Makeup Remover
  24. Lastly… trust me on this one… White Sidewalk Chalk (Someone step on the bride’s dress? Swipe chalk over the mark for a quick fix!)
