Yes, I know I look like a well-dressed construction worker when I arrive on wedding day to begin set up. My all-black ensemble includes a “tool belt” that looks more like a very fancy server apron with 47 pockets, and a “tool box” containing the most random collection of items one would think to tote around. Make fun of me all you want… I say, “I have it in my emergency kit!” at least 2 dozen times each wedding day.
Short and sweet today. Here’s a comprehensive list of everything I keep in my trusty, gigantic, “Caboodles” style box (yep, I’m aware I probably just aged myself a bit):
- Portable Steamer
- Scissors & Wire Cutters
- Lint Roller
- Tape (clear Scotch tape, green floral tape & something heavy duty)
- Nail File & Trimmer
- Bobby Pins & Clear Hair Elastics
- Plastic Gloves (for food handling)
- White Cloth Gloves (I wear these when helping a bride into her dress in case I there is nowhere to wash my hands, first)
- Crochet Hook (for dresses that button up the back)
- Needle and Thread (I keep ivory, white, black, gray and navy thread on hand, then purchase the color of bridesmaid’s dresses, per wedding)
- Hot Glue Gun & Super Glue
- Clear Fishing Line, String & Zip Ties
- Floss Picks
- Breath Mints
- Ibuprofen
- Nail Polish Remover
- Eyelash Glue
- Hair Spray
- Dryer Sheets (get rid of that static cling!)
- Charging Block and Cord
- Pens and a Black Sharpie
- Q-Tips & Cotton Balls
- Makeup Remover
- Lastly… trust me on this one… White Sidewalk Chalk (Someone step on the bride’s dress? Swipe chalk over the mark for a quick fix!)
