Workshop #17: Favors- Does your Budget Think You Should Skip Them?

Oct. 10, 2024

Looking back at workshop #12, I asked if you remembered the favors you were given at the last 3 weddings you went to. If you do remember them, what about them stood out?

When wedding funds need to be stretched like Go-Go-Gadget Arms (yes, I’m well aware I just aged myself), favors are the very first thing that can be skipped. Keep in mind, this is only my opinion, but it is based on over 200 weddings in the past 20 years.

It’s frustrating to know how much money can go into favors, just to find 75% (or more) left on tables, on the floor, or even in the trash at the end of the reception. If it’s not edible, but still goes home with guests, more than likely it will end up in a junk drawer. Unpopular opinion here, but I’ll say it anyway… Do you want a bunch of keychains, magnets or koozies that have someone else’s name and wedding date on them?

If you’re even remotely on the fence about offering favors, save your money and skip them. The money spent on favors can be added to something more meaningful to you such as your photography package or splurging on the wedding shoes you’ve had your eye on.

If favors are something you’re set on offering, edible treats are usually the most well received. Bonus if it’s something homemade or meaningful to the couple. Edible or meaningful favor ideas might include:

His & her’s favorite candy

  • Want to thank everyone for popping by?
