You’ve heard the saying “rain on your wedding day is good luck”? While I do believe this adage, rain (or snow, extreme heat, etc.) can certainly throw kink in the plans for your big day.
If you’re the bride or groom that has always wanted the beach wedding, an outdoor garden ceremony, or anything that will require your ceremony or reception to be set up outside, please ask yourself these questions before beginning the planning process:
- Will I be riddled with anxiety for more than a week if the 10-day forecast is showing nasty weather on my wedding day?
- Will I be upset if my wedding day is “ruined” by inclement weather? Or can I roll with the punches and make the best of it?
- What is my plan if the weather goes sideways? Hint: trying to rent a tent, sidewalls, heaters, fans, and anything else you’ll need just 24 hours before your wedding day is NOT a backup plan.
If any of the questions above make you a nervous Nelly, rethink your plan. An indoor reception at a conservatory or under a clear tent may be a better option for those seeking an outdoorsy feel, but don’t want to risk it. Maybe a beachside honeymoon instead of a beachside wedding ceremony?
Weather is the one factor in wedding planning you have ZERO control over. Having a solid back up plan that was set up in advance OR avoiding the possibility all together is my best recommendation for the bride that has envisioned the picture perfect day that absolutely cannot be affected by rain, snow, blistering sun, sandstorms, high winds, or any other wedding weather catastrophe that mother nature decides to pull out of her pocket on your big day.
